Panic attacks are completely different from anxiety attacks – it is a much more extreme experience. During a panic attack, you are overwhelmed with the fear of dying; you will feel like you’re losing control of everything as your heart rate skyrockets; your chest will start to hurt; you will feel dizzy, nauseated, either too hot or too cold; and breathless. It may sound stupid, but the important thing is to know that you are experiencing a panic attack and… relax. You won’t die. Everything will be just fine. When people don’t know that they’re experiencing a panic attack, the fear it provokes will take control of the person and make every physical response much worse. Try to close your eyes and travel to your happy place.
