5. Marigolds

Marigolds are very pretty, and they add a cheerful pop of color to any household. However, the sap from this plant can trigger some nasty skin rashes, which is why you should be careful. If ingested, they might also cause gastrointestinal discomfort. Keep them away from your pets and any curious children.

6. Heartleaf Philodendron

This plant is particularly dangerous to your pets, which is why, ideally, you should keep it hanging from the ceiling. Because it contains calcium oxalate, a hazardous substance that can cause swallowing difficulties and a lot of pain, your pets might get sick if they ingest it.

7. Caladium

Due to its heart-shaped leaves, Caladium is a perfect gift for Valentine’s day or even an anniversary. But while this plant looks quite harmless, it can be pretty poisonous and dangerous. Breathing difficulties and drooling are some of the symptoms your pet might experience after coming in contact with this plant.

8. Pothos

You probably don’t know this plant by the name photos, but its other designation might ring a bell: Devil’s Ivy. And the scary name makes sense since this plant can irritate your tongue, mouth, and lips, excessive drooling, and even cause you to vomit. This plant is very beautiful, and it makes quite an elegant house décor, but you need to be careful and think of your health first.

9. Euphorbia tirucalli

This particular plant looks quite different, and its presence can provide a distinguished vibe in your house. However, Euphorbia tirucalli can release a corrosive sap that will lead to skin and eye irritation. If you love this plant and want to keep one inside your home, be sure to handle it with care and always to wear eye protection and gloves.

10. Foxglove

Digitalis purpurea, or Foxglove, is one of the most common plants in ornamental gardens, which is why people have decided to turn it into an indoor plant as well. But its seeds, flowers, and even leaves carry digoxin, a substance that can be fatal to both humans and animals if ingested. Having this plant at home without being aware of its toxicity can endanger you, your family, and even your pets. So, be careful and keep it in a safe place, out of reach for children, cats and dogs. We are not saying you can’t have these plants, but if you decide to purchase any of them, be careful. Keep them away from your kids and pets, and be sure to wear gloves when handling them. Do you have any of the plants on this list in your household? And if you do, have you ever experienced any adverse conditions related to them? Let us know!
