5 Tooth Cavity Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore!

#1 – Here are 5 signs of tooth cavity you shouldn’t ignore: Toothache

This is by far the most common symptom of a cavity and is exactly the one people ignore for long. Pain can happen spontaneously without apparent cause or it can happen when you bite into the food.

Either way, you shouldn’t delay scheduling a dentist appointment by taking over-the-counter medications to ease the pain hoping it suddenly goes away.

#2 – High sensitivity

There are many people out there who have sensitive teeth and often struggle when eating or drinking something cold or hot. But if you start experiencing unusual sensitivity in your teeth, it might be due to cavities.

As we have already mentioned, cavities occur when the enamel starts to wear. This means that the layer below the enamel can potentially be exposed to external factors such as food and drinks.

This stimulation of the nerves inside the teeth gives a feeling of discomfort, especially when it is caused by something hot, cold, acidic, or sweet.

#3 – Stains

If you notice a sticky white spot or brown stain forming on the surface of one of your teeth, it is definitely a sign that you must improve your oral hygiene. Brown stains indicate that your tooth decay has reached an advanced stage, so you should definitely see a dentist as soon as possible.

However, not all stains are a result of poor oral hygiene. Some stains can appear naturally as a result of aging, genetics, or several different lifestyle choices (smoking, drinking lots of coffee, and eating foods containing artificial colors, just to name a few).

#4 – Tiny hole on your tooth

A cavity will look like a very tiny hole that you might be able to see in the mirror (you can also try to use your tongue to feel if there’s any irregularity on the surface of your teeth). This is the first thing you should look for after you start to feel sensitivity or pain around a specific tooth.
