Is there anyone who doesn’t love to eat (and not just to quell hunger)?
But most importantly, does everyone know that there are certain foods that shouldn’t be consumed on an empty stomach?

You may not be able to resist your food cravings, but you could still manage them. Because similar to how you shouldn’t drink soda or alcohol on an empty stomach, you must avoid these foods that may include anything from raw vegetables to citrus fruits.

Eating such foods when your stomach is empty may cause you a number of digestive problems and severe stomach pain, especially if you eat them directly after waking up from sleep.

On a side note, health experts recommend waiting one or two hours after waking up before having breakfast since the food may shock your stomach that is still awakening and lead to a few digestive complications.

You should also never start with the foods that we’re about to mention on this list. Leave them for later and click to read more!

7. Spicy food

Spicy dishes are yummy but they should never have a place on your table as the first meal of the day!

Eating chilies, cayenne, jalapeño, or any kind of spices on an empty stomach may irritate the lining of your stomach and cause indigestion. By slowing your digestion, spices can also cause you heartburn, AKA: acid reflux.

And if you already suffer from acid reflux, eating spicy food on an empty stomach will further worsen your condition.

6. Citrus fruits

Fruits like oranges, lemons, limes, berries, etc., all contain citric acid which is beneficial to the health, in addition to vitamin C that boosts the immune system. However, eating citrus fruits on an empty stomach may increase acid production in your body, cause acid reflux, and slow down your digestive system.

If you already have a sensitive stomach, or a stomach that is easily upset, you may experience stomach ache.
