Are bananas good for breakfast? Although we truly want the answer to be a simple “yes,” unfortunately, it is not!

Many of us try their best not to skip breakfast, especially while running late for work, and that’s when we decide to eat a banana or two as a quick healthy breakfast option.
Of course, bananas are easy to carry around, easy to eat, and yummy, but according to research, they are definitely not the best breakfast food.

In fact, Bananas are some of the worst easy breakfast ideas. This may come as a serious surprise, particularly for those who usually eat a banana for breakfast, but you may be interested in understanding exactly why these healthy, potassium-rich goodies are a terrible breakfast option.

1. Bananas Increase Cravings, Lead To Weight Gain

According to Dr. Gioffre, eating bananas for breakfast can do you much more harm than good. While this delicious fruit comes with many health benefits since it’s high in fiber, magnesium, and potassium, it won’t do you any good as a breakfast substitute.

That’s because bananas consist of 25 percent of sugar, in addition to being moderately acidic.

Dr. Gioffre explains that eating a banana for breakfast will provide you with a decent and instant energy boost that’s only temporary, and soon enough, you’ll start feeling tired and hungry all over again. Bananas are like nature’s candy, instantly enhancing your energy and decreasing your hunger only to cause cravings and lead to overeating later on.

2. Bananas Cause A Spike In Acid And Blood Sugar

It’s important to keep in mind that bananas aren’t a total no-no, it’s just that having a breakfast that consists of one or even two bananas is an unhealthy choice that can ruin your diet.

While eating only one banana for breakfast will make your body feel weak, you can prevent this negative effect by adding other healthy breakfast foods to your first meal of the day. These include healthy fats, spices, and herbs, to reverse the insulin spike caused by bananas.
