A report by the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology states that allergies occupy the sixth position in the list of causes for chronic diseases in the USA. Every year, over 50 million Americans experience some sort of allergy.

But allergy symptoms aren’t always crystal clear, and sometimes it takes an allergic reaction for people to discover that they are suffering from allergies. What are the signs of allergy?

1. Headaches

Allergies are probably the culprits behind your constant headaches that you can’t quite decipher. Allergies are responsible for symptoms like the swelling of the nasal passages and the sinuses, and as a result, the production of mucus will increase, and it will fill up the sinuses. The accumulation of fluids is what causes headaches, and this is something you should pay close attention to, because chronic headaches can develop into something more serious, like depression.

2. Constipation

People who suffer from serious food allergies can experience constipation as one of the most usual symptoms.

Young children will be particularly affected by this symptom, especially children who are around the ages of three or four years old, since that is when they first come in touch with cow’s milk. Constipation can also have dangerous consequences, like fecal impaction or rectal prolapse.

3. Tiredness and fatigue

Like we have explained before, your nasal passages will get swollen as a result of allergies, and as a consequence, while you sleep, you will breathe through your mouth. The oxygen intake during the night will suffer slight lapses, which will mess up the quality of your sleep, and the next day you will be left with a general lack of energy.
